Central Lutheran Church In 1915, the Central Lutheran congregation, for forty years a part of Christ Lutheran Church, completed its church building on the northeast corner of South Fourth and East Jefferson Streets.  The site was purchased by the Ladies Aid Society, the West Side Sewing Circle, and the Tabitha Society.  The Church was dedicated on February 21, 1915. Hand-carved altar was one of three of its kind in the U.S.  The altar and pulpit of white with gold trim was purchased by the Rutland Ladies Aid Society of Central Lutheran Church in 1914. Reported in 1948 four pastors had served this congregation:  The Rev. J.A.O. Stub served until he enlisted as chaplain during World War I.  He was followed by the Rev. Oscar Thompson.  The Rev. Stener Turmo ministered to the congregation until his retirement in 1943 and in 1948 the Rev. H. Manford Knudsvig was the current pastor.
